Virtus Scholarship Program

Now, in its eighth year, the Virtus Scholarship Program at Dunham awards merit scholarships to new students entering grades six through twelve. The Latin word Virtus – interpreted as excellence, character, courage and worth – reflects the essential qualities expected of students desiring admission to The Dunham School.

The foundation for the Virtus Scholarship comes from the Latin maxim per aspera ad astra meaning “to excellence through effort.” Students who are awarded Virtus Scholarships have demonstrated such excellence in the following areas:

  • Academic Achievement
  • Demonstrated Exemplary Character and Leadership
  • Gifted/Talented in the Fine Arts

Virtus Scholarships are based on individual merit, not financial need. The amount of the Virtus Scholarship awarded may be up to the full Dunham tuition.
