Lower School Music

There is always so much happening in the Lower School music program! Each class in each grade level sees Ms. Farestvedt for music for at least thirty minutes each week. In class, students learn how to play, sing, compose, listen, and move creatively to music. They learn how to read and write music to communicate feelings and emotions with others in their own compositions and how to decode the compositions of others. They also learn about important composers and musicians in history and explore the music of other cultures around the world. In the spring, all of the Lower School students work to prepare for the biggest performance of the year, Grandparents' Chapel. It is a special day that is set apart to honor our grandparents with a very special Chapel service.

Third and fourth grade students are invited to audition for our Lower School Honor Choir which meets after school for an hour each week. During the year, the Honor Choir presents a Christmas concert and a Spring concert. They also perform at special events such as the annual Book Fair and the Lessons and Carols service.
