Headmaster's Update: Pardon Our Progress

10/25/2008 12:00 AM

By now, you may have noticed the signs of construction on our campus: orange construction fences surrounding the tennis courts, the disappearance of the playground equipment, the bulldozer parked discreetly behind the baseball field.  Very soon, the "Outback" building will be demolished.  This is an exciting time for Dunham!

This week, the site preparation work for the new buildings begins. Thanks to the generosity of donors who have already pledged $9.45 million to the Capital Campaign, we are breaking ground for the Lower School Complex and Chapel Arts Center. Join us to celebrate this milestone at a brief Groundbreaking Ceremony on Friday, October 31 immediately following the Homecoming Pep Rally.

During this period of construction all over our campus, our focus will be on providing a safe environment. Our contractors, Buquet and Leblanc, and their safety experts have assured us that every reasonable safety precaution will be taken to protect our children and families. We will continue to do everything in our power to keep students safe while on the campus.

Parents, you also have a role to play. Drive carefully as you drop-off and pick-up your children in carpool. Because of construction equipment and activity, you may experience delays, so allow extra time to navigate the campus. Watch for hazards caused by construction materials.  Safe driving is critical during the construction period, so please remind student drivers to drive slowly and carefully around the campus .

Thank you for your patience as we begin this messy but exciting time in the life of our school!
